Wake services are being held for a Bronx woman who was found inside a suitcase on the side of the highway in Yonkers.
Pamela Alcantara, 26 was found on March 6, four days after being reported missing by her family.
Friends and family are gathering at the New Life Outreach Church in Bedford Park, where church leaders are expected to hold a press conference to call for justice later this evening.
Alcantara was an active member in her church community and was also a part of the Latin Caplins Association.
She was reported missing by her family on March 2 after her mother says she did not show up to a church event that she was expected at later that day.
Police say they found Alcantara inside a suitcase along the Sawmill River Parkway in Yonkers on March 6. Junior Perez Diaz, 46, was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.
"We want everybody to remember her as an example especially woman, don't let nobody hurt. Don't' let nobody talk loud to you, that's a sign that you have to run," said, Isa Peguero, Alcantara's Aunt.
Alcantara will be laid to rest in her home country, Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
