Several SoHo stores damaged from looters amid NYC protests
As massive protests took over New York City this weekend, looters broke into several Manhattan stores, running off with hundreds of dollars’ worth of items.
Many stores in the SoHo section of Manhattan suffered extensive damage, including shattered windows and stolen property.
A News 12 reporter captured looters breaking windows and running out with bags of items around midnight. People could also be seen in the middle of the street repacking boxes full of stolen merchandise.
Stores like Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel were completely raided, leaving nearly nothing left inside the stores.
Most streets off of Houston Street have been blocked off by patrol vehicles. Authorities confirm they have made multiple arrests throughout the night.
Police are also investigating a group of men seen fleeing in a vehicle and striking an officer.
Police say several people were arrested.
The mayor says he and Commissioner Shea are discussing the possibility of putting a curfew in place. For now News 12 is told officers will be patrolling this area to avoid a repeat of what happened Sunday night.
