A Bronx family is fighting to keep the memory of their loved one alive through a street renaming.
In April, 23-year-old Sally Ntim was struck in the head by a stray bullet at the corner of Sheridan Avenue and McClellan Street. To cope with their loss, her family started a Change.org petition to get the street corner renamed to Sally's Street.
The family's Change.org petition already has more than 600 signatures, and they are in the process of knocking on doors of businesses in the area to get their support.
"This would be something that would be a staple, very memorable for everybody in the area because, like we said, she meant a lot to us and she didn't deserve to go out like that," says Desiree Ntim, Ntim’s sister.
Ntim’s mother, Lily Brenyah, says the loss is something she cannot comprehend.
"Just picturing how she got hurt, like the bullet goes in her head, she didn't have a fighting chance," said Brenyah.
The family is looking for closure and begging anyone with information to come forward with any information on the case.
The NYPD says it is still looking for two people in connection to the shooting. No arrests have been made
