The SING! musical program is about to expand citywide.
It's a New York City public school tradition that involves students creating an entirely new musical production from start to finish. Students design the set, write the script and stage the performance.
SING! got its start at Midwood High School in 1947, and for the past few decades, has stayed at schools in South Brooklyn and Staten Island.
That changes this year thanks in part to a donation from Taylor Swift, as it will spread from a dozen to 30 schools citywide.
The program culminates in a schoolwide competition in February.
