It's another chilly start to the day with wake-up temperatures in the mid-40s. Today will be similar to this weekend with highs in the mid- to upper- 50s. Tonight will be the coldest night so far this season with lows near 43 degrees. It stays dry through Tuesday evening with increasing clouds and temperatures in the upper-50s. A complex storm system will approach the city from Southeast to Northeast starting overnight Wednesday through Friday. This storm will bring periods of moderate to heavy rain and a persistent gusty wind by the midweek through the end of this week. The strongest gusts will be at the coast.
The worst of the storm will be Thursday afternoon and evening when the storm will be closest to the city. There's still some uncertainty with the exact track and timing. 1 - 2"+ of rainfall is possible through Friday with gusts up to 45 mph+. Saturday: Sun and clouds, cool and breezy. Highs near 58. Lows near 45. Sunday: Partly sunny and cool. Less wind. Highs near 59. Lows near 47. TRACKING THE TROPICS: Hurricane Melissa continues to strengthen as it approaches Jamaica. It is currently a Category 5 hurricane . This will be the first time ever in recorded history a Category 5 hurricane makes landfall in Jamaica. The strongest hurricane to ever hit Jamaica was at category four storm in 1988. 2-3ft of rainfall will bring catastrophic flooding and landslides to the island. Destructive winds will bring power outages and extensive infrastructural damage for days and even weeks. Significant storm surge of 9 - 13 ft is expected through tomorrow morning along the Eastern portions of Jamaica. Haiti and the Dominican Republic will continue to face Melissa's wrath as it slowly moves north and wraps around more heavy rainfall and damaging winds to the neighboring islands. Eastern Cuba, Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas will be the next areas of concern as hurricane Melissa continues its northern path Tuesday and Wednesday.
