Shovels have been out in full force as snow cleanup continues across the city, especially at the city's parks.
Crews were out since 6 a.m. Monday to clear the walkways and sidewalks in and around St. Mary's Park in Mott Haven.
NYC Parks workers and members of the NYC Parks Opportunity Program were working to make paths safer for pedestrians, and New Yorkers wasted no time taking advantage of the cleared walkways.
“I got a sled obviously, an old pizza box,” Noah Calvery, a Mott Haven resident said. "We actually grabbed it about a few seconds before we left.”
Noah Calvery and his friends took to the park with whatever they could find to enjoy the snow. He said the cleared paths made it easier to navigate around.
"It's tough to get the motivation to come out here and sled," Calvery said, "but I really appreciate how clear they’ve been.”
The city says roadways and walkways could remain icy and slippery. New Yorkers are urged to remain cautious while traveling.
