Several groups in the Bronx are rallying Monday to call for more mobilization against AIDS.
On June 5, 1981, federal health officials reported the first cases of AIDS. To mark the 25th AIDS anniversary some groups have been praising the strides doctors and researchers have made in treating the virus, while other groups have rallied for more research and help. The Gay Men?s Health Crisis and the NAACP are two groups that will hold rallies for greater AIDS mobilization.
Last week, residents with HIV and AIDS and other supporters held a protest at the United Nations to remind international leaders that AIDS is still killing people in the Bronx and around the world.
