A Soundview man says he was shocked and scared when he left his house Saturday morning, only to see his next-door neighbor crouched in the open doorway of their shared hallway, completely naked.

"I wanted to hit him," said Saabir Naasir, who recorded the entire incident, "but I'm a gentleman, and I got to do everything lawfully."

Naasir says he called the police immediately. Pictures shared with News 12 show officers taking the neighbor into custody.

However, Naasir says the man was back in the building that very night without warning, and continued the behavior - now touching himself in the doorway.

"I can't even bring my 6-year-old son over, because I don't want something like that to happen in front of him," Naasir said.

Things then turned violent Sunday night, as Naasir watched through his peephole as the man came at his door with a knife, leaving scratches all over it.

"I'm scared," he admitted. "I can't sleep, because every noise, I'm thinking is him. I don't know if he's going to try to come in my house. I need help."

Naasir says that so far, help has not come.

Complaints to management were all closed with no follow-ups or action.

Texts to the landlord shown to News 12 were ignored, with the landlord finally answering that he had been busy.

"I should be at home inside my house," Naasir said, "(Instead), I feel like I'm in jail."

Naasir called the NYPD again on Tuesday morning and says the neighbor ran out of the building after hearing him make the call.

Police told Naasir to let them know the next time he sees the neighbor.

"I am Muslim, so I can't be drinking. I feel like getting a drink, I'm so stressed out," Naasir said.

The landlord did finally reach out to Naasir after he told them News 12 was in the building - promising to come over on Wednesday morning, and do everything he could to help.
