A group of residents in Soundview are calling on the city to trim overgrown branches that hang over their homes and power lines in the area.
In a video shared with News 12 from last week, a large branch can be seen falling right onto Chris Juarez’s front patio. A short time later, a branch fell onto his car.
Juarez says calls to 311 have not been helpful and no one has responded.
Neighbors say they are worried about kids in the neighborhood as well as pets on walks through the same streets.
In a statement, the Parks Department said, "We remain committed to maintaining our city's extensive tree canopy for the health and safety of all New Yorkers. Tree prunings and proactive tree inspections continue in every borough, every day – we expect to complete over 55,000 inspections this year."
