A water main break that took place just before 5 p.m. flooded nearby streets in Soundview, according to the FDNY.
First responders say that the water main break took place in front of 847 Underhill Ave. near the intersection of Underhill and Story avenues.
"The water just kept on flowing and it haven't stopped since, we called 911," said Maritza Jusino, who lives on Story Avenue.
Another resident told News 12 that they had filled up old soda bottles with water out of fear that they would lose access to their running water.
No nearby residents have lost their power or access to water at this time.
