According to signage on the front door, "Asian Spa," located on Middletown Road, was shut down on April 10 for operating as a brothel.

A sign from the Supreme Court of New York and the NYPD is taped to the front door says the business was shut down for "prostitution."

A summons was also taped to the storefront.

News 12 spoke with Elena, a woman who runs a storefront two doors down from the spa. She said the raid is a long time coming.

"I wasn't surprised because I saw what was going in and out of store... men all day long," said Elena.

Community members say the business has always been suspicious. It has been up and running in the neighborhood for nearly 1 1/2 years.

Middletown Road in Pelham Bay is lined with small business, residential homes and a school.

"Forever Young" salon owner, Magdelena Makas, said this illegal activity has no place in her neighborhood .

"We work hard to keep our environment, our neighborhood beautiful. And you have people who don't care about you and your neighborhood... so it's not fair," Magdelena said.

News 12 reached out to the NYPD, the District Attorney's Office, the sheriff's office and the Department of Investigations among others, but has not received a response.
