Splish Splash hosts Nassau, Suffolk chapter of Autism Society of America
Summer is in full swing, and Splish Splash spent Wednesday raising autism awareness.
The water park hosted the Nassau, Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society of America for Autism Awareness Day.
The park opened at 8 a.m. and offered members and their families two hours of time within the park before guests arrive for the day.
More than 700 tickets were donated to children and their families.
"It's so special because I love my friend and I love Splish Splash so much," says Andrew Wells.
Parents were also grateful for the event because the move allows autism families to experience the park with no lines, less noise and the kindness of the employees.
"We have so many challenges on a daily basis and to have just two hours of freedom - it's just our group - it gives us that opportunity that we would never really get," says Melissa Swales of Bay Shore.
