Riverdale residents are begging for help from New York City’s officials after they say spotted lanternflies are taking over outdoor spaces.
Thousands of the invasive insects are across the outdoor decks of Riverdale neighbors Stan Kleiman and Diane Gonzalez, who says that everything that they’ve tried hasn’t gotten rid of these bugs.
"When I take a break for five or 10 minutes and then go back outside, it's almost like they multiply, there's like no getting rid of them,” said Kleiman.
Kleiman and Gonzalez say their 311 phone calls have gone nowhere, and that they’ve got neighbors all the way up on the ninth floor of the building dealing with the same issues.
News 12 has reached out to the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets for more information and is awaiting a response.
