A Parkchester church opened its doors for people throughout the city this Ash Wednesday after a fire nearly destroyed it back in December.
St. Helena's church community was devastated when flames ripped through the church just a day after Christmas. The road to recovery after the intense damage was filled with faith and prayer.
The ashes just months ago from the fire now have been replaced with the ashes drawn on the foreheads of people as a sign of devotion for their faith.
There is still work to be done to fully repair the church, but Father David says he's happy to welcome the community back inside for Mass.
