News 12 spoke exclusively with Kaitlynn Berman, who says she was stabbed 22 times by someone she once called a friend.

Back on March 22, Berman said 22-year-old Christopher Joseph stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife. She said it happened after she and Joseph spent two hours hanging out with her 3-year-old daughter.

Berman said Joseph asked her for a beverage and when she turned around, he started to stab her. She said he then stole her cellphone and cash and took off.

Joseph was arrested on March 23. He was charged with 13 criminal counts, including attempted murder, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon charges, among other charges.

Joseph remained in custody until Dec. 10, when Judge Darlene R. Goldberg released him on his own recognizance with no bail.

She said that was due to the DA's office's failure to meet a key deadline to set bail.

In the meantime, Berman hoped Joseph's next court date will put him back behind bars. Joseph appeared in court today and was released again. This time, Judge Goldberg said it was due to the DA's office not submitting proper paperwork on time.

"Knowing that I have an attacker out here who tried to unalive me and he's just walking free... It's a concern for my safety and my daughter's safety," Berman said.

Joseph is set to appear back in court on March 6.
