A local organization hosted community events on Saturday to call for an end to violence and crime in Bronx neighborhoods.
Kwame Thompson and his crew from Stand Up to Violence were out in Soundview reaching out to neighbors.
The organization hosted an outdoor event in Soundview where it partnered with the James Monroe Resident Council.
Stand Up to Violence also hosted an indoor event with the Soundview Community Center.
The organization provided food to the residents and brought people together to help end violence, specifically gun violence.
Thompson said Stand Up to Violence's staff consists of people who were gang members themselves but turned their lives around.
Thompson said the focus of these events was geared more for children.
Stand Up to Violence is going to have more events next week, but those ones he said will be centered toward adults.
