Plans are in the works to bring new life to the old the Huntington Free Library, which has sat empty for decades in Westchester Square.
Community Board 10 has approved a proposal that would turn the building into a state-of-the-art library.
The plan calls for a 12,000-square-foot library facility with glass windows. As part of the proposal, an adjacent building that currently houses archives will be preserved for landmark status.
Neighbors who spoke with News 12 had mixed reactions. Some are in favor of a totally new library, while others want to keep the character of the old building.
The new library is expected to open in 2020.
