State rejects 12-year sentence for suspect accused of killing Stamford man in 2017

The attorney for 35-year-old Shardel Ragin rejected an offer that would imprison him for 40 years in connection with the 2017 homicide.

A man accused of killing a Stamford man outside a downtown restaurant appeared before a judge on Monday.

The attorney for 35-year-old Shardel Ragin rejected an offer that would imprison him for 40 years in connection with the 2017 homicide.

Ragin offered to accept a 12-year sentence, which the state rejected.

He is being sentenced for the death of 33-year-old Max Antoine.

According to police, Ragin waited for Antoine in his car and fired his gun at him and another man as they were leaving a restaurant in downtown Bridgeport.

Ragin is due back in court on Feb. 28.
