Officials are asking all residents to stay off the roads to hazardous conditions.

Mayor Ganim: Bridgeport is ‘prepared.’

Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim declared a weather emergency Saturday as a massive storm barrels toward Connecticut's biggest city.

"We're here at the Emergency Operations Center getting a full briefing from the National Weather Service, because preparation is something we do very well here in Bridgeport, but it's got to be a team sport," Ganim said on Sunday. "The storm preparation effort will only be successful if all of the experts and the crews and the first responders work together."

George Kelly, a Bridgeport Public Facilities driver, said he began prepping Bridgeport streets at 6 a.m. Saturday.

"We're out there laying down the groundwork, literally, to help keep our community safe no matter what Mother Nature brings," Kelly said.
