Tenants say they feel trapped in apartments due to elevator issues

Tenants in the River Park Towers in Morris Heights say they feel trapped in their apartments due to elevator issues.
A fire in a fifth-floor unit Friday left the building at 20 Richman Plaza with just one working elevator.
Tenants who are unable to trudge up and down several flights of stairs say the wait for the building's one working elevator can take up to an hour.

River Park has provided tenants with a direct number to the management office to inform security to send the elevator to their floor, but the tenants say the line is constantly busy.
News 12 called the building management office, and an employee said over the phone that workers are trying to restore service to the remaining three elevators that are out of service.  They said it could take about a week.
"We feel like prisoners in our own homes," says tenant Arlene Yeboah.
