The move to require payments to park at American Dream in East Rutherford brought criticisms from the public, as well as Gov. Phil Murphy – but it looks like the mega mall is quietly getting rid of its pay to park policy.
On its website under the subject of parking, a banner on the page says, in all capital letters, "PARKING IS FREE."
The word “FREE” is even in bold letters.
The parking fees were supposed to go into effect last month, but still haven't. The fees were criticized in comments all over social media, and even by Gov. Murphy during News 12’s Ask the Governor.
Parking was supposed to cost $3 for 30 minutes to three hours; $4 for up to four hours and 59 min; $5 for up to six hours and 59 min; $6 for up to seven hours and 59 min and $24 for eight hours or more.
The mall does charge for parking though when there are Giants or Jets games at MetLife Stadium.
Parking is $30 without a prepaid Giants parking pass and $45 without a prepaid Jets parking pass.
The rates are in effect five hours before the game and remain in effect until one hour after kick-off.

The mall will charge $10 for valet parking.
