A viral video of a man visiting a Bed-Stuy coffee shop is going viral after he is seen demanding that the Black Lives Matter sign hanging on the storefront be taken down.
The customer said he was going to have his own protest outside Burly Coffee in Bed-Stuy.
“This sign is offensive to me,” said the man in the video, “I am making a protest against Black Lives Matter because all lives matter,” said the man.
In the video, first posted to Reddit, the barista explains to the man what Black Lives Matter means.
Abraham Knofler, identified in Gothamist, took his Twitter down following the incident, telling them he just wanted to defend “all lives.”
Regulars of Burly Coffee were stunned by the exchange, but say they’re proud of the barista’s response.
“She stood her ground and we need more people like that to stand up for us,” said Shacquana Washington.
The staff says that was not the first time they had dealt with that particular customer and that they’re overwhelmed with tips from the community.
