A slashing incident at a Bronx high school during the first week of school has the Department of Education stepping up safety measures.
According to the police, the incident happened inside the school building at Dewitt Clinton High School Wednesday afternoon. Police say the victim was treated at Montefiore Medical Center and is expected to be OK.
It has been over a year since all the students were together at the high school, and violence is already erupting in the hallways. This school building is no stranger to violence, often making headlines for crime in the school.
This time, police say two 15-year-old boys got into an argument at 1 p.m. while the school was packed with students. One boy took out a sharp object and cut the other student on his face.
The Department of Education said that safety is its top priority and that the NYPD and EMS responded immediately. They also say they will be putting additional safety measures into place.
