Student Sponsor Partners is launching new programs to keep kids and their mentors connected. The nonprofit is aimed at setting up about 1,200 high school kids around the city for academic success, with guidance from mentors along the way.
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the group is seeking virtual mentors to keep kids on track throughout the summer.
In the week since the program started, 14 virtual mentors have already signed on. SSP is looking for about 100 more, with a specific need for men.
The organization is also offering virtual tutoring for the first time to help students with remote learning.
