Students from across New York City paid a visit to Broadway, filling the seats to see "Phantom of the Opera" on Thursday.
For many of the 80 students in attendance, it was their first time seeing a Broadway theater performance. The Broadway League partnered with the DOE to provide $10 tickets to 10th graders to see the musical.
“It’s a win for them, it’s a win for Broadway, and it’s a win for our city,” said president of Broadway League Charlotte St. Martin. “We want to introduce these kids to careers on Broadway and to the joy of Broadway.”
The Broadway League launched the Broadway Bridges program five years ago, with their main goal to give every public school student in New York City a chance to see a Broadway show before they graduate.
