A new study has found that Bronx residents are breathing polluted air. According to a report by the American Lung Association, the Bronx received a failing grade for its air quality the third consecutive year. Many residents in Hunts Point say they're tired of being choked by soot and smog, and want the area cleaned up. The American Lung Association says soot is directly linked to premature death, lung problems and increased asthma attacks in children. Members of a local environmental group say it's unfair for residents to have to breathe polluted air. The association has some tips to minimize exposure to air pollution. They say avoid exercising near high-traffic areas or when pollution levels are high and walk, bike or carpool to reduce emissions.
