Study: New York is the 3rd state most impacted by internet scams
According to the FBI, New York is in the top five states affected by internet scams in 2022.

5h agoAccording to the FBI, New York is in the top five states affected by internet scams in 2022.
In the report released online, New York has had 29,065 victims with the total amount of $559,965,598 money lost. California had the top spot with a little more than 67,000 victims and over $1 billion lost. Texas follows after California, then New York, Florida and Pennsylvania.
The FBI also states the money lost to online scams and victims affected doubled since COVID-19 with $6.9 billion lost in 2021, compared to $3.5 billion in 2019.
The report also lists ways to avoid online scams such as never giving money to anyone you have met in person, refusing to give out personal information and more
