A Suffolk County man is hoping to get the opportunity to become a superhero on the silver screen.
Quentin Thomson is an engineer and an actor.  He is attempting to go after his dreams of being Static Shock in an upcoming movie expected to be produced by Michael B. Jordan.
"Ever since watching the cartoon when I was little, which it actually inspired me to become a computer engineer," Thomson says. "So Static Shock had like many influences in my life and just made science look so cool to me."
He started a Change.org petition to try and get an audition for the movie.
Thomson, who is from Bay Shore but currently lives in Los Angeles, says he was inspired to take the chance after watching a "Spider Man" movie at a Long Island theater.
"Either I could just go to the movie theater a year later and realize that 'aw man, that would have been so cool to do that,' or I could take some action and take a shot and what do I have to lose," Thomson says.
He says if he gets the chance to audition, all of the people from his native Bay Shore could be able to hear him screaming with excitement from Los Angeles.
He says it would be a dream of his to show how influential Static Shock was to him as a child.
"We are more than capable of making anything that we dream of happen," Thomson says.
