First responders came together in Suffolk County to remember their fallen brothers and sisters.
The East Northport Fire Department held a somber ceremony Saturday to remember and honor those who lost their lives on Sept. 11.
In front of the fire department, a piece of steel from the Twin Towers stands between an NYPD and FDNY uniform to symbolize 343 New York City firefighters and 23 police officers who died rescuing others.
At the Melville Fire Department, people gathered in front of the 9/11 monument and plaque, which is engraved with the names of the Huntington Township residents who died that day.
In addition to that, they also remembered firefighters who died from 9/11-related illnesses.
