Police: Man shot after answering late-night knock at door in Huntington Station

Suffolk police say a man was fatally shot at his home in Huntington Station.
Police say Byron Martinez, 23, was shot after he answered a knock at his door on 212 Fifth Ave. at 1:15 a.m.
Martinez's mother told News 12 that she and her other children were woken up by the sound of shots being fired. She then found her son shot several times at the front door.
"He opens the door - and an unknown perpetrator at this time - shoots several times, striking him in the upper body," says Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison.
Harrison says when police arrived to the scene, Martinez had been pronounced dead.
Police say they are still trying to figure out a motive, but they believe that it was not a random attack and Martinez was an intended target.
The victim's mother tells News 12 that her son lived with her at the residence for around six months.
