Community leaders in Sunset Park hit the streets Friday to visit restaurants that have built outdoor seating areas.
Organizers say they want to make sure businesses have proper safety measures in place after a truck crashed into a restaurant in the neighborhood earlier this week. Several diners suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
On Friday, Councilmember Carlos Menchaca, the Sunset Park Business Improvement District and the Community Board 7 visited businesses to make sure they had enough masks and other supplies.
They also spoke with business owners to ensure the outdoor seating areas were built properly with the right specifications to keep people safe.
