Police are asking for the public's help with finding suspects in a double shooting that left one person dead in Parkchester.
Officers responded to calls and found two men with gunshot wounds at Unionport Road and Guerlain Street Thursday. A 35-year-old man is now recovering at Jacobi Medical Center from multiple gunshot wounds, but 23-year-old Daquan Cooper died at the scene.
Police say two men were captured on surveillance video at the time of the shooting: one wearing a blue jacket and the other wearing a black jacket. The men got into a gray or silver SUV with a dent in the rear passenger's side door.
As police search for suspects in the shooting, relatives and friends are mourning Cooper with a makeshift memorial that continues to grow at the scene of the crime.
"He wanted more for himself," says Dexalina Nelson, Cooper's friend. "He was going to school. I was proud of him, but I didn't expect that from him."
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
