Dozens of teachers were out early in front of the Lewis and Clark School in Westchester Square Monday, waiting to welcome students before the first bus arrived to drop them off.
There were smiles on the faces of dozens of special needs students as a crowd of teachers and staff - wearing personal protective equipment - welcomed them.
Students had their temperatures checked before entering the building, and overall, the first day of school seemed to go smoothly for all.
The school, which is a District 75 school, caters to students with various development disabilities and special needs.
It has approximately 300 students and runs from grades six to 12.
