Testimony resumed Tuesday in the trial of former NYPD officer Michael Valva in the death of his son Thomas Valva.

Detective Guy Gerig, of Suffolk Police Electronic Investigations, testified that several key videos from within the home were deleted from the day of the 8-year-old's death by someone who had access to the account.

When Gerig was given permission to access the Nest system, he began downloading videos from the home at 10 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2020. Six hours later, an administrator on the account changed the password, blocking his access. Gerif says "most" of the footage was deleted.

A neighbor also testified that she was sleeping when another person who lives on the block called her several times and asked what was going on next door.

The neighbor testified, "I said, 'Did something happen to one of the boys?'"

According to the prosecutors, Thomas Valva was forced to sleep in the garage with his 10-year-old brother for months. Both were on the autism spectrum. They say the father sprayed his son down with water outside on a freezing morning and Thomas Valva's body temperature was 76.1 degrees when taken at the hospital.

Michael Valva has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
