Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams recognized COVID-19 heroes from Brooklyn Tuesday.
"We believe it's a symbol of what is great in the borough of Brooklyn. Not only does a tree grow in Brooklyn, but COVID heroes grow in Brooklyn,” said Adams.
During the ceremony, 186 people were honored, including Dr. Anthony Fauci. "His determination to do what is needed and what must be done despite opposition. We proudly thank you Dr. Fauci,” said Adams.
Dr. Fauci talked about how Brooklyn helped him get to where he is today.
"Whenever people ask me how I put up with all the stuff that goes on in Washington, I have two words for them: it's Brooklyn strong, and that's exactly what I feel,” said Dr. Fauci.
Another honoree recognized was Grace Ramirez. Ramirez works with the nonprofit organization World Central Kitchen and was part of the efforts that distributed 8.5 million meals to New Yorkers.
