It is time to open those windows and breathe new life into your home. Spring cleaning is a yearly tradition for those looking to freshen up any winter-worn spaces.
For some the process includes a simple swapping of heavy comforters or the boxing up of sweaters and winter coats. For others, it includes a basement to attic scrub-down, and it doesn't come cheap.
"[It's] between $150 per room, up to $350 per room depending on who you call. But, if you do a whole house, it could run over $1,000," said Circana's Chief Retail Analyst, Marshal Cohen.
If you're unwilling to foot that bill, you can always take on the work yourself. Cohen says prices are running about 3% higher on cleaning products, but some will last you multiple seasons.
"$45 to $50 is what you should expect to spend on cleaning supplies," said Cohen.
In addition to polishing your home this spring, make sure you're also protecting it. The changing of the clocks is a great reminder to change smoke detector batteries. According to Cohen, the $5 investment in batteries is truly worth every penny.
