Local art event 'The People's Festival' is spreading a message of positivity and celebrating the resilience of New Yorkers through art.
Fordham Plaza was the last stop for the festival, and News 12 spoke to several artists and creators who say their work has a deeper meaning than just the appearance.
"So, for the past three weeks we've been going all over New York City, to all five boroughs, celebrating New Yorkers resilience with the People's Festival," says artist Yazmany Arboleda. "The People's Festival is the first time the civic engagement commission and such is going out to the world to meet New Yorkers, to meet residents, and not only bring resources but do so while prioritizing beauty and joy."
Artists like Arboleda say they are focusing on exposing New Yorkers to a variety of art along with giving back and providing resources to areas of the city that the pandemic has hit especially hard.
