In the evening where the rain has picked up. And so are those winds? But what is it going to look like waking up in the morning? Well, I mentioned that snow, right? It is going to change over briefly north and west, but will it stick? That is the issue. Uh, looks like it's going to be a little too warm for that. But you may see some of that snow in parts of Sussex County over into Warren and northern Morris and maybe even trying to sneak down towards interstate 78. But snow lovers don't get your hopes up. This is a mainly rain event for us and it's really the high gear right now. So the winds have picked up gusts now over the next few hours, 40 to 50 miles an hour. So it is nasty. It is messy outside. The rainfall rates are 1 to 2 inches an hour. We need to watch for flooding and of course, wet roadways by the time we get to the morning though, this will start to taper roads are going to be wet though and temperatures will be cooler for these are making a comeback. Temperatures are falling overnight into the morning and the 40 stick around through next week. Welcome back to News 12 of the Bronx for local matters. I'm Phil Tate. We are on Storm March tonight. We have Storm March team, meteorologist Ho oa Hope. I mean, this second wave of wet weather is really kicking up, but tell us how is this going to really be impacting our morning commute? Yeah, you know, you know, the rain is going to continue into the morning commute. So this is just something that we have to deal with and just prepare for and we're not just dealing with the rain. We're also dealing with a strong two damaging winds, 40 to 50 MPH and that can cause some power outages across portions of our area. Crashing. Temperatures will be in the sixties at midnight, crashing to the forties by Monday morning. And then we have some travel troubles, especially for your morning commute, standing water and any wind damage can reduce visibility and also just cause some hazardous conditions on area roadways. So let's have it out on your future cast overnight. We're still dealing with the periods heavy rain and some strong gusts 3545 MPH and even through four or five o'clock in the morning, temperatures will be in the mid forties and we're dealing with that steady rainfall, maybe even a few isolated downpours to at least 7 a.m. Eight AM. The rain is lighter and then we're seeing some clearing skies by the afternoon, 1212 30. But temperatures will be in the mid forties. The winds will be persistent throughout the day. That is gonna feel like temperatures to be in the mid to upper 30. So that's a real shock in the system, especially coming off of a 60 degree day. So Monday night into your Tuesday morning, it is expected to feel like the twenties because of those winds. So back to our winds, the winds will be out of the northwest. So now it's bringing in that cooler pocket of air 5 a.m. 2325 MPH and we're seeing it in that ballpark for the majority of the day, even reaching near 30 at times and that is going to take us into your two morning. So this is what you need to prepare for for Tuesday morning. Again, temperatures will be in the twenties to start feeling like the mid to upper thirties during the afternoon. But on the plus side, at least it's dry. We're not dealing with any wet weather for the next several days. So that's something that we can finally look forward to. So the storm watch continues for the first half of your morning commute, drying out by the afternoon, temperatures will be in the mid forties feeling like the thirties even colder by Tuesday. Let's just get through this together.

We are of course on storm watch for this storm right now bearing down on Westchester and the Hudson Valley meteorologist Julian C Wright is here. So Julian, a lot of people that we heard from in Emily's story concern about their Monday morning commute. Absolutely. And they should be because we are going to be expecting this rain just to continue to be heavy throughout the next several hours. But even though a weekend, we are still going to be dealing with rain by the time we wake up for tomorrow morning as well, which is going to continue that flood issue for us. We're getting into what we have for our flood advisor. Just a reminder this watch is going to be in effect. We don't have a flood advisory, but we have a flood watch in effect until we get into about 1 p.m. for our Monday. Until then we're gonna be dealing with periods of heavy rainfall, consistent rain as well. But behind the rain, we're also gonna be monitoring those winds as of right now. Just a few areas have been hitting into gusting winds that are really clocking into the 30 to about 37 MPH range as for Poughkeepsie and over towards White Plains, but we are still seeing many areas towards the eastern side after getting hit with those stronger winds as we continue throughout the overnight. So a quick look at just exactly what we're gonna be expecting from tonight into our Monday morning. We're gonna be looking at street flooding to be possible because of the heavy rainfall and those high rainfall rates per hour, which could be between a half to three quarters of an inch of rainfall, which again could be leading to flooding for many of us. 1 to 2 inches of rain is gonna be likely for us across the lower Hudson Valley. But then again, behind it is going to be the windy conditions, isolated. Power outages are going to be possible as gusts can be from 30 to 40 MPH and we could see potentially some old trees being down because of those strong winds. So here's what we got going on for our radars right now, still monitoring some heavier downpours, especially across much of Dutchess in Ulster County and even for Putnam and going into Rockland, Westchester and even for Orange County. So pretty much everywhere is starting to see a bit of that heavier rainfall, which we're starting to see those totals even picking up a bit more as well, especially towards southern parts of Orange County, almost an inch and a half of rainfall. So really over the last two hours, we've almost seen a little bit more than the half of an inch of rain that has fallen for us. And just about two hours it goes to show you just how hard or heavy that rain has been over the last while. But again, once we get into the rest of tonight's, we're looking for our heaviest band of rain to be within the next couple of hours past midnight, the rain will start to phase out but some periods of heavy rain mainly to the east is gonna be possible right behind it. I'm gonna be seeing a cold front. That's right on your screen. We will be seeing a bit of a wintry mix, potentially even some snow flakes for some areas, especially north of Westchester and for Rockland counties. Now, it's not looking to accumulate much in terms of snow, but rain accumulations could still be about an inch close to two inches. Once everything's all said and done in regards to wind speeds, it's not just tonight, but heading into Monday afternoon, we're still gonna be dealing with some gusty winds and breezy conditions throughout our Monday. So it's not gonna fully improve, but at least it's not gonna be heavy rainfall for our Monday afternoon. Once we're done with Monday, smooth sailing with cold and sunny conditions.

Long Island

And another storm watch update that we have going on for us just a reminder. So we have a flood watch in effect through one pm Monday for all of Long Island and on top of it, we have a high wind warning in effect for Suffolk County until we get into about 11 a.m. for Monday. Now, we could be seeing wind gusts between 45 to 55 MPH, but some areas we can't even rule out reaching 60 MPH as in gusts as we get into the overnight. And for our early Monday morning, we are expecting wind speeds to be sustained between 25 to 35 MPH and just take a look at how things are as of right now, along much of the South shore, we are already starting to see some pretty strong winds around 33 MPH. Gusts for Oceanside, Farmingdale Islip and Shirley are still sustaining about 26 MPH winds and we are expecting those to strengthen as we get into the rest of tonight. But again, here's the storm system that's just really just been stalled out throughout much of the east coast continuing to pump in not only rain but strong winds across Long Island. Now, the good news is as of right now, we're not dealing with much in regards to rain, especially for the eastern side of what we have on Long Island, but we are expecting the rain to continue to build as we get into the next several hours. Especially once we get around 10 o'clock, we're looking for a bit more of that rain to not only just be lights but heavy rainfall from Glen Cove to Huntington and even for Hempstead. Now, from Nassau County over towards the western side of Suffolk County, we're looking at this to be a slow moving band of heavy rainfall that will continue to stretch its way across Long Island, which is why our concerns for flooding are mainly going to be overnight and into a very early Monday morning, which could again impact your Monday morning commute because we are gonna still see some heavy and even consistent rainfall throughout our early m Monday morning around sunrise. And even around seven o'clock, we're still dealing with a bit of some rain as well, but you could take notes that it's not only it's gonna be wet, but it also will be colder as temperatures will drop into the forties by sunrise. Now, gusting winds again, near 60 MPH are possible along the South shore and southern parts of Long Island and tomorrow though it's not gonna be 60 MPH. We're still gonna be dealing with strong winds and here's how much rain we could potentially see again. Close to three inches of rainfall is left for many areas, especially over towards Suffolk County. Once we're done with the rain colder for the week.

And we're taking another look at the forecast. Morning, temperatures are going to be warm, but temps will fall throughout the day and there's still rain out there for that morning commute. So there could be a couple of issues on the roads plan accordingly. Travel could be a little disrupted by that rain. Now, there will be some snow falling mainly north, but that's going to be very brief and it doesn't look like we'll see much of an accumulation, but either way it's going to be damp out for the morning commute, the afternoon will be and colder. So make sure you have something waterproof for the morning, grab a rain jacket, don't wear the good shoes tomorrow, it's going to be very wet out, but later it up underneath because temperatures will be colder. S ra are still looking pretty messy across the area. And like I mentioned in terms of snow, there's not going to be very much but just parts of northern Litchfield County and as you go up in elevation, so this upcoming week as a whole is going to be a lot drier than what we're seeing right now. And those temperatures are in the forties.
