Memorial Day sales are already starting! 

Love to cook? This is your month. Look for discounts on large and small appliances. Some retailers will slash prices on select washers and dryers and refrigerators by 50%. Now is the time to ask for free delivery as retailers offer it as an extra perk. Look for bundles, buy both the washer and dryer and get an extra break.

Pick up small appliances like coffee pots and toasters. Buy them now and save for college dorms as well. Be sure to check the big box stores and Amazon to compare prices. And as always beware of fake reviews.

Want to sleep on it? Memorial Day is known for the best time to buy a mattress. Expect online brands like US Mattress, Saatva and Sealy to knock off hundreds of sales. Check Macy's, Amazon and Sam's Club for deep discounts on deep sleep as well. But buying a mattress blindly is no easy feat. Make sure return policies allow for full refunds if you are not happy.

Stores want to move the apparel that's been on shelves for two months and make room for summer stock.

Check out fresh produce. New crops of cherries, pineapples, mangos and strawberries will make their way to store shelves with hopefully cheaper prices than we have been seeing.

What should you NOT buy this month?

Memorial Day sales will start popping up now, but the kick off is May 23 and will end on Memorial Day. Athletic apparel. Everyone is gearing up for the good weather so there is no need for stores to slash prices. They'll get you into their store without incentives.

Hold off on buying a barbecue, discounts will be slight and will increase as the summer ends.
