Halloween purchases aren't the only big buys this month, retailers are trying to entice shoppers by offering deals now for the holidays.
News 12's consumer reporter Janice Lieberman has The Real Deal on what to buy in October.
Retailers are racing to get you into the holiday spirit early.
Target announced its deal days are Oct. 6-8.
Retailers are expected to knock off 60% on outdoor camping gear and tents.
"And then we are seeing a lot of overstock still from supply chain issues and that's in casual apparel, some electronics, furniture and classic games. So these are all things that you can be buying right now in October," says shopping expert Trae Bodge.
Think next summer! Check clearance for leftover patio sets and grills - which can be slashed by 60% at Lowe's and Home Depot.
Scary Halloween deals happen close to the holiday or the day after. You can find inflatables and costumes half off.
If you find a great deal for a holiday gift, most retailers like Target will extend price guarantees until the end of January. If the item goes on sale - you can get an adjustment.
What's worth waiting for?
"So you want to hold off on certain electronics, especially things like TVs, video game bundles," Bodge says.
Amazon is running its second Prime Day next week - which promises even more deals.
