The Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx is back open, bringing the culture and history of the music to the borough.

Visitors at the Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx are getting an immersive experience of hip-hop culture in its early years.

"We are a museum that is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of hip-hop music and culture,” says Rocky Bucano, executive director.

Bucano says the museum, which is located right in the birthplace of hip-hop, aims to continue the legacy of hip-hop culture and honor its pioneers, like LL Cool J, DJ Afrika Bambaataa, and Run DMC.

Visitors at the museum can look through hip-hop history with all the items in the exhibit and enjoy interactive games.

Along with the memorabilia throughout the museum, visitors can also come to these kiosks, put on their headphones and listen to stories that takes them on a journey through hip-hop.

"What we hope people will experience here is the magic and the power of this amazing global phenomenon,” says Bucano.

Staff say the current museum is just a preview of what's to come.

They're planning for an even bigger museum to be built nearby, which they expect to be complete by 2023, as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop culture.
