Thousands of jobs are currently in line to be filled in New York City working with the U.S. Census Bureau.
Census takers for 2020 are needed to count everyone living in the area. The part-time jobs are temporary and offer $25 per hour, with paid training and transit reimbursement.
"You can work nights, you can work weekends, and the best thing about it is you choose your schedule," says Jeff Behler, of the New York Regional Census Center.
Those interested can apply online right now. Officials are looking for people who are comfortable walking around their community, knocking on doors and conversing with people to collect important data.
The data collected helps determine federal allocation of spending in the area for things like Head Start, national school lunches, highway planning and construction, food stamps, WIC and more.
A bulk of the jobs will be hiring in January and February, with employees getting out into communities in May and working through the end of July.
