Thousands of New Jersey police officers participate in annual Special Olympics Torch Run

Police officers from across New Jersey took turns running the “Flame of Hope” Special Olympics torch through the state.
The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run benefits the Special Olympics of New Jersey. More than 3,000 officers took part in the event, which included 26 routes, spanning hundreds of miles.
"As we were running, there were just so many people cheering for the police and for the cause,” says Jersey City Police Detective Joe Cassolini. “It makes you feel good to see something so positive after such a terrible year that everyone has been through."
The officers ran more than 750 miles.
