Thousands of people laced up their sneakers for a good cause at this year’s Autism Speaks Walk at Jones Beach.

Around 10,000 took part in the annual event, which is in its 20 year.

The event is one of the largest autism walks in the country, and brings together people on the spectrum, as well as their friends, families and other supporters to raise both money and awareness along the way.

Every participant who raised $150 or more today was given an Autism Speaks Walk T-shirt, which was designed by Tommy Hilfiger.

Organizers called the event a celebration of people with autism, complete with costumed characters, sweet treats and a little dancing.

The event was expected to raise around $1 million to help improve the lives of people with autism.
