Hundreds of people came out to Parkchester and waited in line to vote early on Sunday.

Early voting sites opened at 10 a.m., but some people tell News 12 they were in line at least three hours before then.

Poll workers reminded voters that if they were just waiting to drop off an absentee ballot, they didn't have to wait in line.

Others brought chairs and wore their required masks for at least two hours before being able to cast their votes.

Residents seemed to be patient, and were happy to exercise their right to vote.

"It is definitely worth it," says Phillipa Hogarth. "I will stay in line until I cast my ballot. It's very important."

Early voting is available through Nov. 1 and mail-in ballots will be accepted up until next Tuesday. Others can vote in person on Election Day.
