Cooling centers will be open across the city today in preparation for the heat wave impacting New York City this week.

Cooling centers were open across the city today due to the heat wave impacting New York City this week.
NYCHA activated its Emergency Operations Centers throughout the five boroughs Wednesday due to the consistent high temperatures.
NYCHA says it holds biweekly meetings to prepare for possible power outages and other possibly safety issues. On top of cooling centers at NYCHA properties, they’ll have water stations available.
In the event of a power outage, NYCHA says it has 26 generators on hand.
