The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an
air quality alert Wednesday for all of New York City.
Health officials are urging New Yorkers to not overexert themselves when outside. The alert will be in effect through midnight tonight and the department is warning New Yorkers with asthma and other respiratory issues to be cautious.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when out and about today:
- Use less energy in your home
- Avoid exercising outdoors
- Wear a mask
The haze that can be seen across the city comes from Quebec, Canada following 70 wildfires currently burning.
