Yonkers and Titan Real Estate Development LLC broke ground Tuesday on a new mixed-use residential building coming to the city's southwest section.

The $185 million project named Park Square Yonkers will soon find its new home at 1 Loehr Place.

This will partially replace the empty parcel of land left following the closure of the Mulford Gardens units.

The 7-story building will include 340 units, 10% of which will be dedicated to affordable housing.

"This project is a long time coming, and there are many people from Mulford that still consider this place to be home and would love to have a new home to come back to," said Lakisha Collins-Bellamy, Yonkers City Council president.

The project is estimated to take two years to complete.

For parents, the building will be aligned with a future pre-K-through-8 Yonkers public school, expected to serve around 800 students.
