The number of confirmed Legionnaires' disease cases linked to an outbreak in the Melrose and Morrisania neighborhoods of the Bronx has risen to 11, according to New York City health officials.

Officials said one person has died and three others remain hospitalized as the Health Department continues its investigation into the cluster.

Health officials previously identified 10 cooling towers that tested positive for Legionella bacteria, including towers at Yankee Stadium and Lincoln Hospital.

The city says all 10 cooling towers have now completed the required remediation, including cleaning and disinfection.

The affected cooling towers are located at 820 Concourse Village West, 234 E. 149th St., 1 E. 161st St., 470 E. 161st St., 1265 Franklin Ave., 567 Melrose Ave., 3339 Park Ave., 1160 Teller Ave., 890 Washington Ave., and 1085 Washington Ave.

According to the Health Department, outreach efforts have intensified in recent days, with officials engaging more than 400 residents and distributing more than 1,000 informational flyers about Legionnaires' disease throughout the affected area.

Despite those efforts, some residents have expressed concerns that they still lack information about the outbreak.
