Fall may have just started, but experts say now is the time to start that holiday shopping, especially when it comes to your kid's wish list.
Toy review companies the Toy Insider and Toys, Tots, Pets & More (TTPM) released their lists for the hot holiday toys. But from dollhouses to Hot Wheels cars, this will be different this year. A big issue is shipping concerns.
"I don't think the consumer really understands the surge that is going to happen, and you will see around between Nov. 15 and Dec. 1," says TTP CEO, Editor-in-Chief Jim Silver. "There are no containers to ship toys over here and that means there is going to be a major shortage of toys come holiday season. You are talking about anywhere from 20% to 30% less toys being able to get over here."
"There are shortages on plastics so you can expect to have to budget a little bit more. The prices have increased a little by about 10% across the board," says senior editor of the Toy Insider Jackie Cucco.
But the experts have some tricks.
"If there is a hot item, buy it when you see it," Silver says.
Get your kids thinking now and check those shipping dates.
Cucco also recommends shopping locally at unusual toy spots like grocery and bookstores.
